Regional Awards for a Winning Media Communications Team

121 Squadron’s, Cadet Warrant Officer Robert Allan who won the Cadet Media Communications Presentation competition with his Air Cadet Calendar design. The Air Cadet Media Communications team from 121 (Nuneaton) Squadron which came first in three competitions during the Central & East Regional Field Day at Royal Air Force Wittering on 4 th September have finally been presented with their awards.

Presentations for competition winners at the Central & East Regional Field Day are traditionally presented by the Regional Commandant during the final parade. Unfortunately a prolonged bout of torrential rain decided to put pay to any idea of holding a final parade and all the sodden cadets and staff were sent home without knowing any of the results.

It was several days later that the team found out that against stiff opposition from Squadrons from all six Wings within the Region, the Nuneaton based Squadron head won the Regional Media Communications coverage competition for the second year in succession. The Media coverage competition is based on the unit's participation in public events and media activity during the previous 12 month period.

121 Squadron's, Cadet Warrant Officer Robert Allan and Flight Lieutenant Paul Hincks also won both the Cadet and Staff sections of the Media Communications Presentation competition with their Air Cadet Calendar designs.

The Squadrons keen photographers also managed some notable success in both the Cadet and Staff sections of the photographic competition with Flight Lieutenant Paul Hincks taking 2 nd place in the Staff section.

Having missed out on their moment of glory in front of the Regional parade, Cadet Warrant Officer Robert Allan and Flight Lieutenant Paul Hincks were delighted to be presented with their awards by Squadron Leader Bryan Coats when he visited the Squadron.

Flight Lieutenant Paul Hincks, Officer in Charge, 121 ( Nuneaton ) Squadron said, “I am delighted that we have managed to win this years Regional Media Communications competitions. Our performance in these competitions is attributable to everyone on the Squadron, not just those who write the articles, take the photographs and maintain the website. If it wasn't for all our cadets and staff putting in so much effort and taking a pride in everything they do throughout the year we would have noting to report.
