Following their recent success in local competitions the Band of 121 ( Nuneaton ) Squadron Air Training Corps where for the sixth year running pulling out all the stops during the weekend in their attempt to reach the corps national finals.
The Nuneaton based cadets joined forces with teams from other squadrons within the Warwickshire and Birmingham area to compete against five other wing teams at the Central and East Regional field day at Royal Air Force Wittering on Sunday 7 th September.
The 121 ( Nuneaton ) Squadron musicians many of them having only recently joined the band after the local Wing competition had spent lots of time practicing for the Regional competition. Unfortunately despite all their efforts and against stiff competition from the other wing bands they didn't manage to win the Regional Band Trophy they have been chasing for the last six years.
Flight Lieutenant Ian Crew, Officer Commanding 121 ( Nuneaton ) Squadron said, "The Squadrons band has worked very hard this year to get ready for both the Wing and the Regional competitions. Unfortunately since we appeared in the regional competition last year many of our bands more experienced musicians have left the Squadron. We have managed to recruit new members and they have worked extremely hard and did tremendously well to win the Wing competition however they weren't quite up to the standard required at Regional level this year but We'll Be Back next year". |
