On Sunday 12 th July, Nuneaton based Air Cadets joined members of the Coventry Branch of the Royal Air Forces Association together with representatives from other Ex Service Organisations for a Service of Remembrance for passed RAFA members and friends.
The service, which was held at the Garden of Remembrance in the grounds of the RAFA Coventry Branch Club was conducted by the Branch Padre Rev. Frank Seldon.
The band of 121 ( Nuneaton ) Squadron provided the music as veterans, branch members, friends and family congregated before the service. During the service Sgt Amiee Easterlow of the cadet band played the Last Post as the standards of the many Ex Service Organisations in attendance were dipped in salute to former colleagues and friends . The silence was broken in the time honoured way as Amiee sounded the Reveille and the standards were returned to the carry for the final blessing.
After the service the Air Cadet Band provided further background music as the RAFA branch members and friends socialised in the gardens of the club.
Flight Lieutenant Ian Crewe Officer Commanding 121 ( Nuneaton ) Squadron said, “ We are always delighted to be able to attend and support RAFA functions. It's nice to be able to have the next generation of young men and women to serve in RAF blue play such a significant role in such events.
