On
the 7th February cadets and staff from the Squadron donned their
thinking caps for a quiz night at the Nuneaton Griff & Coton
Sports Club. Teams of budding brain boxes from the cadets and staff
joined teams of parents, friends and other regular quiz fanatics
as they battled it out over successive rounds of questions covering
a wide variety of subjects.
The regular monthly charity Quiz Nights at the club are organised
by the quiz master Roy Hill and the proceeds are donated to various
local organisations and charities. On this occasion Roy and his
team managed to raise £276 for the Squadron.
By the end of the night, the 'Staff' team, known as the 'Big Stick'
(A play on words) had completely exhausted their grey matter, that
is assuming they had some in the first place. Having said that they
did manage to achieve a score of 136 points, the winners, 'The Bunnies'
managed to tot up 167 points. The 'Big Stick' team were particularly
pleased with their result as it put them ahead of their main rivals,
a family team known as 'The Mensa Rejects'.
The cadets and staff of 121(Nuneaton)Squadron ATC would like to
take this opportunity to thank Roy Hill and his wife Karen and friend
Maureen, for organising the Quiz. We would also like to thank John,
who donated the batches and also sold the Raffle tickets with Georgina
Haywood. Thanks also to Fosseway Radio for the kind donation of
many prizes and to all the other people who donated raffle prizes.
The money raised during the night will help the Squadron to continue
to provide a valuable service to young people within Nuneaton and
North Warwickshire area.
