On Sunday 04 th November cadets from 121 ( Nuneaton ) Squadron attended the Polish Ex-Combatants Association Remembrance Service at the Baginton Cemetery near Coventry Airport . The Service was being held to remember the Polish Airman who lost their lives whilst serving with the RAF in the area during the Second World War.
The link between the Squadron and Polish Airman serving with the RAF goes back to the days of 1942 when cadets from Nuneaton had regular visits to Polish Wellington bomber Squadrons based at RAF Bramcote and later RAF Nuneaton.
Sgt. Brian Ferris a piper from the band of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers and the Air Cadet band led the parade of Polish and other ex-service association standards and personnel to the Baginton Cemetery for the act of Remembrance which was conducted by Rev. Dr Romuald Szczodrowsdki. During the service Amiee Easterlow of the cadet band played the Last Post and Reveille and cadets stood vigil at the graves of Polish Airman.
After the event the parade marshal, Mr J.Ramsey said, “We are all so delighted with the contribution made by the members of the Air Cadet band during the service. It's so good that so many young people are willing to give up their time to help us to commemorate the sacrifice of so many fallen Polish Airmen who served with the RAF during the War.
