For the second year running the band of 121(Nuneaton) Squadron
together with the band of the
Nuneaton contingent of the Army Cadet Force headed the Remembrance
Day parade in Nuneaton.
Silence fell on Riversley Park in Nuneaton as people gathered to
remember those who have died in conflict. Hundreds stood in remembrance
as the minutes ticked away to the 11th hour of the 11th day of the
11th month. This years service was of special significance as it
was one of the rare occasions when both Remembrance Sunday and Armistice
Day coincided.
After the wreath laying service at the War Memorial, where
members of the cadet forces stood shoulder to shoulder with veterans
in tribute to the war dead, the parade marched out of the park along
Coton Road to the Town Hall, where the mayor of Nuneaton and Bebworth
took the salute.
The Squadron band had the honor of leading ex-servicemen of the
British Legion, Burma Star Association, Dunkirk Veterans, Korean
War Veterans and serving members of 30th Signals Regiment as well
as contingents of the emergency services and youth groups, in the
march past through the center of the town.
