Cadets and staff from 121 ( Nuneaton ) Squadron were out in force again this year to help bring in the crowds for Nuneaton 's Civic Bonfire and Firework display.
Members of the Nuneaton Lions Club and the Nuneaton Round Table had teamed up with the borough council to organise the charity fund raising event and the Air Cadets were invited to assist with the Car Parking.
The cadets donned their high visibility Lions Club jackets and got stuck into the job of directing the traffic. But the evening wasn't all work and no play; as soon as the car park at the Centre in Greenmoor Road Nuneaton was full the cadets got to join the crowd to enjoy the spectacle of the musically choreographed firework display.
One car in particular, from Warwickshire Fire Service, Arson Reduction Team, drew rather more attention than most and always eager for a good photo opportunity the cadets couldn't resist the chance. Although the work of the Arson Reduction Team is of the utmost importance, especially at this time of year, there was something a little ironic about the sight of their car sitting in the car park, with the spectacle of a massive firework display going on in the background. No doubt the team's subsequent investigation would reveal that the fire had been started deliberately.
Flt Lt Ian Crewe Officer Commanding 121 ( Nuneaton ) Squadron said, “The cadets did an excellent job with their car parking duties and I would like to thank them all for turning out. Thankfully the weather conditions were much better than last year and this seemed to bring lots more people out to enjoy the firework display and bonfire. Hopefully this will be reflected in the amount collected in aid of local groups and charities that will benefit from the money we've helped to raise."
