On Saturday 28th November Members of 121 (Nuneaton) Squadrons Civilian Committee manned one of the large number of fund raising stalls in the Atherstone Market Square as an estimated 10,000 revellers piled into the streets to enjoy the massive North Warwickshire Dickens Night .
All the stalls and street entertainment of the Dickens Night set a perfect prelude to the towns Christmas lights switch on, which was conducted by the Mayor of Atherston, The evening's entertainment ended with a grand musical firework finale which lit up the night sky to herald the start of the Christmas season.
John Newbury, Chairman of the Squadrons Civilian Committee said, “This is the third year that we've taken part in the Dickens Night event. It's been a very successful evening from both the fundraising and public relations perspectives.”
“Can I also say a big thank you to the Committee, Staff and Cadets that attended on such a cold and wet afternoon and evening (Especially Jody who found the Mulled Wine stall for Trevor). The stall was a great success and the monies raised will be put towards our new mini bus. Thanks again to all”.
