Air Cadets from 121 ( Nuneaton ) Squadron joined Cadets from other Squadrons from across the Warwickshire & Birmingham Wing as they descended on Tudor Grange Park in Solihull for the Warwickshire & Birmingham Wing Cross Country Championships. The day started out wet, muddy and extremely cold but as the competition got underway things soon warmed up with cadets from 121 Squadron putting in some outstanding performances.
The most notable performance from the girls came from Cdt Gemma Porter who came home in second place in the Junior Girl's race. Gemma who won last years race has now been selected for the Wing team that will be running in the Regional competition on the 6 th December at RAF Cranwell. Gemma who recently proved herself to be the fastest junior girl in the pool at the recent national swimming championships, will be pulling out all the stops at the Regional cross country to once again prove herself to be the Wing's fastest Junior Girl on dry land as well as in the water.
121 Squadron's Intermediate Boys team also did extremely well by taking second place in their race.
Flt Lt Ian Crewe Officer Commanding 121 Squadron said, “With a Silver medal for Gemma and our Intermediate Boys team coming second, the cadets from 121 Squadron most definitely gave the opposition a good run for their money. Every one of our cadets who came out to represent their Squadron in such awful weather conditions should be congratulated for their efforts.
