A day of celebrations was the official order of the
day on Saturday 10th May when family and friends gathered from all
over the country to wish Elizabeth Cassidy (Betty) a happy 80th
Birthday
The band of 121 (Nuneaton) Squadron ATC was on hand to help to
remind Betty and her family of their previous links with the RAF.
Betty served in the WRAF as a nurse and her husband was a sergeant
in the RAF Police for over 22 years. They actually met on a training
course while they were both serving in the RAF. Betty's children
all grew up as RAF kids, traveling round various stations in Ireland,
Germany, Ceylon and of course the UK.
Betty's family, which includes nine children eighteen grandchildren
and twelve great-grandchildren, were joined by many of her friends
at the Chines in Ryde Avenue, Nuneaton for the surprise party.
121 Squadron would like to take this opportunity to join her family
and friends in wishing Betty a very happy 80th birthday.
