The Airco D.H.9, as flown by 121 squadron in 1918, was a two seat aircraft designed to undertake daylight bombing over Germany. The first of the type began to enter service in December 1917. It was armed with a forward firing Vickers gun and a Lewis gun in the rear cockpit, and could carry 500lb of bombs. This aircraft suffered from frequent engine failures, but saw service in France Russia and the Middle East up until the end of the war. This photograph shows a D.H.9, at a training unit.
